§ 24-97. Local limits.

Latest version.
  • The following pollutant limits are established to protect against pass through and interference. No person shall discharge wastewater containing in excess of the following:

Pollutant Daily Maximum Limits Concentration (mg/l)
    Arsenic 6.2
    BOD 5 250
    Cadmium 1.7
    Chromium 5.4
    Copper 3.3
    Cyanide (total) 3.0
    Lead 3.1
    Mercury 0.0005
    Nickel 5.0
    Oil and grease 200
    Silver 5.3

The above limits apply at the point where the wastewater is discharged to the POTW. All concentrations for metallic substances are for total metal, unless indicated otherwise. The pollution abatement officer may impose mass limitations in addition to, or in place of, the concentration-based limitations above. BOD and TSS discharges above these limits may be allowed by the pollution abatement officer, providing adequate capacity exists at the POTW and appropriate surcharges are imposed to treat the high strength waste.
