§ 4-18. Rabies vaccination.

  • (a)

    All dogs in the city over six (6) months of age must be vaccinated for rabies at least one time annually. All dogs in the city, as and when they become six (6) months of age, shall, upon attaining such age, be vaccinated one time for rabies and shall be vaccinated for rabies at least one time annually thereafter. All dogs which are brought into the city and which are more than six (6) months of age and which have not been vaccinated for rabies within twelve (12) months prior thereto shall be vaccinated at least one time for rabies within fifteen (15) days after their arrival in the city and shall likewise be vaccinated for rabies at least one time annually thereafter. Any person owning, keeping, harboring or maintaining a dog in the city who fails or refuses to comply with the vaccination requirements aforesaid shall be deemed guilty of an offense.

    (b)

    A certificate of a duly licensed and qualified veterinarian of the vaccination required by this section, bearing the date thereof and the identification of the dog by breed color and sex and the license tag number and the name and address of the owner, shall be evidence of such vaccination.
