§ 8-49. Authority granted electrical inspectors.

  • (a)

    The electrical inspectors or authorized deputies shall have the right to enter any building or premises in the City of South Houston, Texas, at any reasonable time, in the discharge of their official duties. The electrical inspectors shall have the authority in cases of emergency to cut or disconnect any electric wire which may present a hazard to life or property or which may interfere with the work of the fire department.

    (b)

    The electrical inspector are hereby authorized to disconnect or to order the termination of electrical service to any apparatus, device, appliance, fixture or equipment found to be dangerous to life or property until such wiring, apparatus, device, appliance, fixture or equipment has been made safe.

    (c)

    The electrical inspector shall be issued an identification card by the City of South Houston, and upon display of this card by an electrical inspector, any person performing "electrical work" or "electrical maintenance work" as defined in section 8-3, "electrical work" and "electrical maintenance" of this chapter, shall immediately furnish and display their City of South Houston Electrical License, authorizing him to engage in electrical work or electrical maintenance work within the City of South Houston when requested to do so by an electrical inspector. Failure to display such license shall be considered a violation of this chapter.
